Growing up with both parents as English teachers, Mabel was introduced to the power of writing from a young age. In her formative years, and through college, Mabel began to investigate the ways that writing can serve as a tool of communication, reflection, and promotion within sectors of the performing arts world, such as dance.
In her senior year at Goucher College, Mabel completed a Capstone that compared the processes of composition in dance and writing through the lens of theories developed by writing scholars. While working as a tutor at the Goucher College Writing Center, Mabel honed skills in working through writing in collaboration with other people. In addition, through her Professional Writing degree and journalism classes, Mabel has meticulously developed her skills in writing and found ways to collaborate with dance.
Mabel feels extremely confident writing journalistic pieces or reviews about dance, formulating captivating content for social media platforms, and writing academically about dance and writing parallels.
